Dove of Peace ELDERLY

Betsy and EvelynIn a society that places a high value on the newest and trendiest, the elderly are often forgotten. They are often consigned to nursing homes; some of them have few or no visitors. We believe the elderly are no less valuable than any other member of society and deserve to be taken seriously.

The Community has a history of solidarity with the elderly. In Boston, the Community started serving the elderly in 1999, meeting many of our friends at the Fidelis Way low-income housing complex in Brighton. Since then, the Community has also started visiting elderly at the Vernon Hall Nursing Home in Cambridge.

After meeting those whom we would ordinarily never encounter, many close friendships have blossomed.
