The children of the Schools of Peace of Sant’Egidio and of the elementary schools of Rome fill the streets with plays, performances and testimonies on peace
“Today, even those that make war will listen to us”, it was said by the more than 3,000 children of the elementary schools and of the Schools of Peace of Novara who, this morning, gathered for the event “Peace in all lands – a march for peace of children”, promoted by the Community of Sant’Egidio. The idea came from a child of the School of Peace of Sant’Agabio that, after the Paris attacks, wondered how to respond to violence and how to let everyone know the desire for peace of children, be they Christians, Jews or Muslims.
Three marches that started from the suburbs of the city converged in the central cathedral square, where children presented activities, performances and reflections on the theme of peace that had been prepared during the year. Among them was also Israa, a Syrian girl that had fled from Aleppo and that narrated the drama of the war in Syria.
