Pope Francis will join the Community on 20 September in Assisi for the Meeting “Thirst for peace. Faiths and Cultures in Dialogue “

assisi2016_1The Vatican Press Office announced that “Tuesday, September 20, 2016, the Holy Father will take part in Assisi to the final meeting of the World Day of Prayer for Peace ‘Thirst for peace. Faiths and Cultures in Dialogue’, organized by the Sant’Egidio Community.”

The president of the Community, Marco Impagliazzo, joifully welcomes this news: “Today there is a great demand for peace that rises from those who suffer violence, the victims of terrorism and those of too many wars going on – he said -. For three days, 18 to 20 September, we will bring their voice to Assisi along with religious leaders. We not only gather to commemorate the thirty years after the great prayer wanted by John Paul II, but to live a new event along with many who, coming from different worlds, for over 30 years have come together, in the spirit of Assisi, to build peace and strengthen dialogue.”
