On the day of the evacuation of Calais, we welcome those who run away from the war: these are the words that Andrea Riccardi said while welcoming the Syrian refugees arrived this morning in Rome with the humanitarian corridors. Along with the founder of the Sant’Egidio Community, there was the Italian Minister of foreign Affairs Paolo Gentiloni, who expressed the hope that the Italian model of humanitarian corridors may soon be adopted across Europe.

Welcoming the refugees in the airport there was also the Deputy Minister of Interior Filippo Bubbico, who recalled the solidarity of the whole Italian society: the Syrians will be welcomed by families in different cities of Italy.
