Christ is Risen!

The Community of Sant’Egidio wishes all a happy Easter. In the middle of such a difficult period for all in the world, we especially look for Christ in the Galilees of today – on the margins, with the poor.
Easter can be forgotten, but there are many in the world who still hope in the Resurrection, in a change for the better. In the face of world that degrades people to taped out rectangles on a concrete parking lot or warehouses the elderly alone to die, we work patiently for solidarity and build bridges among all people.
The Community of Sant’Egidio continues to be close to the poor and suffering. In New York City, we continued our Sunday distribution, sharing Easter greetings with many on the street. In Oxford, Mississippi and New York we delivered cards to our elderly friends who have been isolated in nursing homes for weeks on ends, waiting for any kind of contact. We are especially close to our Community in South Bend, where Cardinal Nursing Home has at least 29 positive cases and lost one resident to COVID 19 and Cambridge Rehab and Nursing in Boston where several residents have also tested positive.
Easter calls us to be great, workers of the Resurrection, and builders of the kingdom. May the Risen Christ be with us always and show us the way to a better life.
