In this historic days for Colombia, who after 52 years of war and more than 220 thousand dead has finally reached a peace agreement, even children adopted at a distance celebrate.
The Community of Sant’Egidio has been present in Colombia since 2004 with the program of long distance adoptions, sustaining hundreds of children in the most remote and desolate areas of the country.
In Ceja, the program helps 70 children who gather come together in the home,”Guardian Angel,” where the Community provides them with educational, nutritional, and sanitary aid. For the most part the Community is dealing with children who have been suffering the consequences of war; orphans who come from internal areas of the country hit by violence and destruction.
A great feast was organized in the home “Guardian Angels,” at the news that a peace agreement had been signed. A new time is beginning for many children who have not known what Peace is.
Thanks to the many people who in these years have concretely supported these children and dreamt with us a future of peace for Colombia.
