Three years have passed since that horrific day on October 3, 2013 when 368 people, predominantly Eritrean women and children, lost their lives in a shipwreck off the coast of Lampedusa. It was a tragedy that demonstrated to the world the drama of those who flee their countries, driven by the hope of finding peace and respectable living conditions.
After three years, there are still many refugees who lose their life crossing the Mediterranean.
We do not forget, that to the many youth of the Community of Sant’Egidio, who in their #threedaywithoutfrontiers – 3 days of friendly competition and sports held in Sicily – welcomed refugees saved from the Military Marine and survivors – such as Tadese – of the shipwreck on October 3rd.
